Still Waters Farm A place for celebration!

One visit to Still Waters Farm and you’ll know right away this is a true family venture.

Meet Emily Scott and her husband, Bobby, and you’ll feel like you’ve found the warmest, most comfortable setting to celebrate a life event. That’s because countless family moments have been celebrated on this property through the years. A working dairy farm until 2008 when Emily’s parents retired (that’s her as a child in the black-and-white Gem Dairy Farm photo that hangs in the hallway!), the location was also well-known as Flat Rock Produce Country Store for several years, before Bobby and Emily came full circle to what is clearly their passion.

The two began transforming Still Waters Farm into a charming wedding venue in 2016, redoing the main metal barn in beautiful, reclaimed barn wood from barns the pair have taken down themselves. Right at the front doors you’ll see a pair of handsome iron pulls that offer a touch of casual elegance and a bit of history from Bobby’s grandfather, who was the lone blacksmith in this area for many years.

“Bobby’s the creative one,” says Emily, with a nod to her husband. “He has the vision of it all in his head, and he makes it happen!”

She’s more the people-person, the marketer and promoter, and the heart behind what prompted their new venture. “I feel like we’re here to help people,” smiles Emily. At the nudging of a photographer who saw the beauty in the lush country setting, she and Bobby researched the possibilities, and the dream of opening a unique wedding venue took shape.

Coming soon, alongside the heated and air-conditioned barn, will be a wedding pavilion, complete with a romantic gazebo, and a small chapel Bobby built from an antique ham house. Already included in their three rental packages are tables and table cloths, chairs, tableware, and silverware for up to 200 guests. Outside caterers are welcome as long as food arrives already prepared (there’s a prep and clean-up area), and Still Waters Farm’s own bartenders man the venue’s pair of wood bars, one serving beer and one serving wine. The barn’s layout and stunning views afford a variety of set-up options, with food stations, cocktail tables, band, or DJ – whatever your entertaining style. There’s a small raised stage that’s just perfect for a stylish head table, or for your favorite musicians. Café lights line the wood ceiling (bales of hay included!) and refurbished grain beds provide quaint dressing areas for the bride and groom. Whether you want to stage both your ceremony and reception within the barn, or venture outdoors for a ceremony at sunset, the options are endless.

It’s clearly the two love what they are doing. With a few events under their belt and weddings already scheduled for October, Emily says they are continuing to grow, and currently still booking wedding dates for the remainder of 2017, along with corporate and community events.

While continuing to enhance the venue, they also love helping clients discover what works best for them. On Saturday, July 15, they will host their inaugural “Fun in the Fields” fair from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., where potential clients can meet local vendors and soak in the ambiance of everything Still Waters Farm has to offer. With free admission and a small parking fee, it’s the perfect opportunity to tour the property and explore your options. In keeping with their community spirit and excitement for sharing the venue with engaged brides and grooms, the first ten brides to book a wedding will receive $1,000 off their package price, and every 25th bride to book an event (and every 50th, and so on) will receive her package free! Emily says they’ll periodically post updates on “where they are” in the booking process, but follow Still Waters Farm on Facebook to stay up-to-date and share in the excitement!

“In December 2016 this was just a metal barn,” says Emily, proud of the romantic, authentic setting they can now offer to local engaged couples.
