Carolina Disco Turkeys to Play at Truist Stadium

New Collegiate Wood Bat Team to Make Winston-Salem Their Home in 2021

After over a year with no outdoor sporting events, baseball is making a big return to Truist Stadium, not only with the Winston-Salem Dash, but with the Carolina Disco Turkeys, a collegiate wood bat team.

You Can Never Have Too Much Baseball

The Carolina Disco Turkeys will play more than 40 games this season against some of the best teams in the Southeast, with their season beginning in May and ending in August offering tickets as low as $7 for some seats. C.J. Johnson, DASH President said, “Collegiate wood bat leagues offer a valuable opportunity for the top college baseball players to develop their skills over the summer. We are excited to provide these athletes with a first-class facility to compete in and to create 16 more opportunities for our community to enjoy affordable entertainment.” Most of the roster for the Carolina Disco Turkeys will be comprised of players who have competed locally in high school and/or college.

Winston-Salem-based Sullimak Entertainment, LLC, owns the Carolina Disco Turkeys and will handle all merchandise, ticket sales, and game operations for their events. Standard stadium concessions will be available and outside food or beverages are not permitted.

If you are asking yourself what exactly a “disco turkey” is, it’s a nickname in some areas of the country for a peacock. The team merchandise with the Disco Turkey logo on it sold out almost immediately and they can hardly keep it on the shelves – it seems people all over the country want it!

Giving fans a good time at the ballpark is what the DASH is all about and this addition of the Disco Turkeys will just add to what the DASH already have lined up this summer and throughout the year.

C.J. Johnson, DASH President said, “We strive to offer affordable entertainment for our community throughout the year. Whether it is a movie night, concert, comedy show, wedding, or baseball game…we want to be the place where our community comes together to have fun. This partnership with the Disco Turkeys and Collegiate Wood Bat League is great because it provides 16 more opportunities for local fans to come out and enjoy tasty food, cold beverages, and America’s greatest pastime…baseball.” The opponents for the Disco Turkeys include the Statesville Owls, Catawba Valley Stars, High-Point-Thomasville Hi-Toms, Martinsville Mustangs, and others. The team will conclude its season by representing North Carolina and playing some of the top North American wood bat teams in Johnstown, PA’s historic annual All-American Amateur Baseball Association (AAABA) Tournament. That’s quite an honor for any team.

The Winston-Salem Dash are the Class A-Advanced Minor League affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For more information, please call 336-714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
