Clemmons Country Store: The Original Local Market

Shopping local has become very trendy in the last several years. We all want to find ways to support the local economy and buy things that are as fresh as possible. Here in Forsyth county, there is a local market that has believed in this ideal for 20 years. Clemmons Country Store is the original local market and the right place to find the best selection of local goods year round.

A History in Our Community

Owner Sherrie Billings saw a need for this type of market in 1999. She knew she had a passion for gardening and wanted to be a part of promoting local products and farmers. It was around this time that some of the bigger chain stores were starting to put some of the local vendors out of business. “I was really worried about the little guy. There were so many great local producers of plants and produce, but there just wasn’t a place for people to get them locally.” said Sherrie. She started out small carrying only local produce and a few plants. But over the years she has found more and more vendors to bring into the store. She is so proud that 80% of the products in the store are local. She went on to say “I’m always on the lookout for new things. I go to craft shows and stay active in looking throughout the community for businesses to partner with. I am very much in touch with what comes into this store. I like being extremely hands on.” And it shows. Sherrie and her staff are very knowledgeable about the products they carry and where they come from. They are more than happy to talk to you and answer any questions you might have about any of their products.

Everyone at Clemmons Country Store is extremely proud to be celebrating 20 years in business this year! Its says a lot about the commitment they have made to this community.
