Five Steps to Help You Get Ready for the Holidays

BY KIM SMITH

“What can I do to look my best at next week’s Christmas party?” is a question the doctors at Forsyth Plastic Surgery often get in December. But planning to look great at those holiday parties should start now. A week before the big event is sometimes too late.

“Preparation for the holidays is key,” says Dr. John Fagg, one of the five surgeons at Forsyth Plastic Surgery. “Just like it’s best to start your shopping early, we stress to our patients that starting a few months before the holidays will give us time to come up with the best plan of action for each patient.”

Dr. Fagg notes five steps that can help you look your best all through the holiday season:

ONE: The time for surgery is now.

“Cosmetic surgery – such as a tummy tuck, breast lift or even a facelift – can make a dramatic difference in how one feels about his or her self,” says Dr. Andy Schneider of Forsyth Plastic Surgery. “And usually people recover in only a few weeks. So if you are thinking about having a surgical procedure, it’s best to plan early and give yourself at least two weeks to recover.”

Dr. Schneider notes that December is a popular month for cosmetic surgery because patients often have time off around the holidays. So plan early, he says, and the sooner you come in for a consult, the better.

TWO: Medical strength skin care makes a big difference

Just like your teeth need regular brushing, and your muscles need exercise, your skin needs attention in order to look its best.

“Good quality skin care products can take years off your face,” says Dr. Gil Kingman, one of the surgeons at Forsyth Plastic Surgery. “A regular skin care routine helps the overall complexion, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.”

And Dr. Kingman notes that just a few weeks of using medical grade skin care products can make a difference. “Starting in November will show results in December – so start soon to see the difference.”

THREE: Injections are quick procedures with almost instant results

“Botox and fillers are one of the key procedures we do at the holidays to help our patients look their best,” explains Dr. George Lawson. “And at Forsyth Plastic Surgery each injection is done by one of our physicians. The results are often immediate, and remember that there is always a potential for a small bruise. So make sure you give yourself a few days before a party or big event.”

FOUR: Non-invasive procedures have no downtime and show results in just a few weeks

Forsyth Plastic Surgery offers many procedures that do not involve surgery. “In addition to surgery, we offer procedures that do not involve any incisions or anesthesia,” says Dr. Leslie Branch of Forsyth Plastic Surgery. “We have several lasers, and offer CoolSculpting, Exilis, and Kybella. These can melt fat, tighten skin, and make you look younger with almost no recovery. During your consultation, we can determine whether you are a good candidate for one of these procedures.”

FIVE: A gift certificate to Forsyth Plastic Surgery is an extra special gift

Maybe your loved one has thought about seeing a plastic surgeon, but felt embarrassed or never found the time. Forsyth Plastic Surgery offers gift certificates that can be used for any of the products or procedures that are offered.

“You may be uncomfortable giving someone special a gift certificate to a plastic surgeon’s office,” says Angela Elliott, cosmetic coordinator at FPS, “but sometimes it’s a great way of saying ‘Go for it – you deserve something that is just for you.’”
