Forsyth Mags Foodie: Midtown Cafe & Dessertery, Where Flavor & Hospitality Meet

With abundant indoor and outdoor seating for the sunny spring weather, Midtown Cafe & Dessertery is a Triad classic that can be enjoyed with all friends and family. The service is friendly, the food is full of fresh flavors, and the atmosphere will make you feel as if you’re in grandma’s kitchen! It truly is the place where flavor and hospitality meet.

At the heart of Midtown Cafe & Dessertery is their breakfast and brunch menu that is served all day long. So, to start off on a “berry” good note, we had a taste of their Fruity French Toast that is batter dipped and griddled until nicely browned and caramelized. Each french toast slice had a custard-like interior with slightly crispy edges on the exterior. It’s served with a dusting of powdered sugar and garnished with fresh strawberries and ripe bananas for a beautiful and satisfying sweet breakfast. But of course, let’s not forget about the warm, creamy cinnamon syrup that may just steal the show!

And to pair with your weekend brunch, you’ll find their popular Mimosa Flight that is customizable to your favorites. Going from left to right in the picture, you’ll find their Caramel Apple, Bellini, Cranberry, and Blood Orange Mimosas that are vibrant in color and taste.

Moving on to the lunch menu, we had the opportunity of trying their Shrimp Tacos that are quickly becoming a new customer favorite – with good reason! The soft tacos are filled with seasoned and grilled jumbo shrimp, shredded cabbage, a fresh house made corn salsa, a creamy avocado crema, and fresh cilantro to balance it all out.

Next up was their Berry Feta Salad with Grilled Salmon that was just as delicious as it looked! Served on top of a bed of crisp mixed lettuces were fresh blueberries and strawberries, spiced pecans for the perfect crunch, dried cranberries, and soft feta cheese crumbles. And on top of all that was a grilled salmon filet that was moist, tender, and flaky. The salad was served with a bright mixed berry vinaigrette that when drizzled on has every bite bursting with flavor!

And lastly, we had a taste of a Southern dinner classic here at Midtown Cafe & Dessertery – the Buttermilk Fried Chicken with a side of their creamy Mac N Cheese and Steamed Broccoli. The boneless, skinless chicken breast was buttermilk brined and lightly battered before frying until golden brown to create a thin crispy exterior that blew me away.

And because you can’t leave the Dessertery without grabbing a slice of something sweet, we ended the afternoon with their iconic Triple Chocolate Cheesecake that is calling all chocolate lovers! It’s loaded up with three unique chocolate layers so that every single bite is even more decadent than the last. You first have the chocolate crust for a little crunch, then a light and airy chocolate cheesecake layer topped with creamy chocolate ganache to finish off these dreamy textures.

But it doesn’t end there. Midtown Cafe & Dessertery has an extensive variety of desserts so that everyone will be sure to find a favorite!

Thank you Midtown Cafe & Dessertery for such a delightful afternoon. And if your stomach is grumbling like ours was after reading this, here is your sign to head on over to Midtown Cafe & Dessertery and tell them the Forsyth Foodie said hi!
