There are many after-school programs to choose from in our area, but some are certainly better than others. Working parents want their children to get the most out of an after-school program, so it is great to find a place that combines learning and physical activity for active students. GRIT is that place. Standing for Game Ready Intense Training, GRIT opened in 2016 when Owner Jason Culler decided to fulfill his dream of combining his baseball coaching experience with his love for the sport itself.
He quickly realized that an after-school program would be a fantastic addition to his business, and his team of experts made that possible. “The GRIT Performance after-school program was started last winter with the vision that this is a one-stop shop for kids to come and get their homework done (tutor supervised), cross training and baseball (hitting, pitching, catching) in all before the parents pick them up at 6pm,” said Culler. “What sets us apart is that we have a former major league baseball player, Rob Sasser, that does programming here. It is more structured, and you get more bang for your buck.”
The after-school program includes training in speed and agility, strength, hitting and pitching, recreation and tutoring – all for just $75 per week. GRIT also takes into account that working parents typically can not pick up their children until after 5pm, when most after-school programs end for the day. “As a working parent myself and having kids in extracurricular activities, it’s hard to get off work at 5pm to get them picked up from their after-school program and to practice/lessons on time while driving through some fast food place to get it all in,” said Culler. “At GRIT, we offer a one-stop shop for parents of young athletes who strive to better their game.”
