Have you visited the Habitat for Humanity® Lewisville ReStore®? You may think that the store carries industrial tools and products to help with building projects. Many Habitat ReStores do sell those products; however, the Lewisville ReStore’s focus is on home furnishings, accessories, home décor, books, kitchen items, and those things that make a room or home standout; items that make a house a home. The overhead banners make it easy to locate which section may be of interest to you, such as Lighting, Furniture, Hardware, Unique (think vintage or out of the ordinary items), or Home Décor. The displays are designed to showcase products to their best advantage and the store is staffed with a dedicated team waiting to help you. This small, local store even offers a service larger stores cannot—if you have a specific need in mind, they’re happy to make a note of it and give you a call should that item be donated.
The Lewisville ReStore® opened in July 2017. Gina Player, Lewisville ReStore Manager, has been part of the Lewisville community for 22 years; and for ten years of that time she was a shop owner in the area. Edwin Cubero is the Assistant Store Manager and offers assistance with Spanish-speaking customers and donors. Kim Marshall is another valuable team member. “This store is a great fit for the community,” shared Gina. “Lewisville has new families moving into the area, as well as long-term residents. We offer quality items at reasonable prices. For the DIY crowd, this is a great place to shop. You’re likely to find items that have ‘good bones’ and just need some imagination to restore or repurpose them.”
In addition to shopping, the Lewisville ReStore® is a great place to donate, too. With new donated items coming in the Lewisville ReStore nearly every day, the merchandise of the shop changes frequently. It’s worth dropping by on a frequent basis to see what’s new and what the weekly specials are.
Mark your calendars for the first weekend of each month. The bag sale at the Lewisville ReStore® is not to be missed. Buy a reusable tote bag for $2.50, then fill it with items priced at $5 or less and pay a flat fee of $20 at checkout– no matter how many items you may have ‘in the bag.’ For book lovers, how does $5.00 for a bag of books sound? A bargain – it sounds like a bargain!
If you are looking to downsize or remodel your home, or need to clear out items from an estate of a loved one, the ReStore offers helpful services. Large items that are gently used and resalable can be picked up by the ReStore at your home—for free! Existing cabinetry that is in good condition can be removed by the ReStore’s volunteer deconstruction crew. Not only will you save yourself money, but your items will get a new home!
If you’re looking for volunteer opportunities, this might be just the ticket. Habitat for Humanity® offers a 45 minutes orientation on volunteering opportunities. Volunteers basically set their own time commitments, and there are a variety of ways to serve. Perhaps your background is suited for merchandising, cleaning donated items, processing donations, or researching to determine appropriate pricing. For more information on volunteer opportunities, visit habitatforsyth.volunteerhub.com.
Donations are accepted anytime; smaller items can be brought in via the front door, or there is an intake area in the back with a drive-up bell notification for the staff. Free pick-up is available based upon Habitat for Humanity’s® general guidelines. Check Habitat’s website (habitatforsyth.org) and select Donation Services for the contact information, to review the pick-up guidelines, or to schedule a donation pick-up. For donation questions, call 336.893.8494. Remember that Habitat ReStores® help fund Habitat for Humanity’s® work of helping hard working and deserving families reach their goal of homeownership and safely aging in place.
