iHeartMedia is Building Community Partnerships In The Triad

BY JULIE FRITZ

The face of radio has really changed over the years. From its earliest days, it has been a source of bringing the joy of music into our lives, as well as helping to keep us informed of the world around us. And even though that purpose remains the same, people are consuming radio in a much different way. We are able to access the radio stations we love from anywhere in the country through our phones, computers, cars and more. iHeartMedia is one of the best ways to access the radio we love, but it’s not just a radio company anymore.

iHeartMedia is the #1 media company in the US. They have 850 radio stations across the country and reach over 275 million people on a weekly basis. Though they are well known for their radio stations, they have much more to offer. The company has expanded in the last several years to include large events, concerts, and selling digital assets, and is also the #1 commercial podcasting company. The free iHeartRadio app is available as well and will allow you to listen to any radio station and build your own playlists. A few years ago they changed their name from Clear Channel to iHeartMedia because, as a company, it encompasses so much more than just the radio portion of the brand.

The Greensboro division of iHeartMedia is home to a new President, Kellie Holeman. She came to the area in May 2019 to start her new position, and her goal is to build a team that can better serve this community and form relationships with existing and new community partners. Holeman said, “I am so excited to work with this group of radio stations and the community because there is so much good we can do. I know our listeners count on us, not only to advertise their businesses, but to be a part of making this a great community to live, work, and play. I am overwhelmed with the warm reception I have experienced since moving into this community, and I can’t wait to get to know more of the people and work to build partnerships that will help this community grow. I could not be more excited for this opportunity.” iHeartMedia Greensboro has already planned a St. Jude Radiothon fundraiser on December 12th and 13th on 104.1 WTQR and Holiday Marketplace on December 7 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and are looking to sponsor more local fundraisers and events.

Here in the Triad, iHeartMedia hosts five local radio stations. 99.5 WMAG is the adult contemporary station and in November and December plays holiday favorites, 100.3 KISS FM is the pop music station, 94.5 WPTI has news talk radio, Q104.1 is #1 for new country and 105.7 Man Up! plays classic rock hits. These stations reach over 700,000 people in this community on a weekly basis. This makes for a very exciting platform to advertise local businesses and reach your target market. They also have the unique ability to customize an advertising package for your company that can even include other areas of the country. Holeman went on to say, “Because iHeartMedia is a nationwide company, we can work with businesses that have multiple locations to meet their advertising needs. For instance, if you have a business here in the Triad and other locations across the country, we can help you accomplish your marketing goals in both places. It is a very exciting part of what we can do.” iHeartMedia is also expanding their footprint in the Triad by hiring for several positions in the areas of sales, programming, and promotions. They are proud to serve the needs of this community by fostering existing partnerships, forming new ones, and providing additional job opportunities in the Triad.
