Laster’s Fine Art & Antiques

It seems as though the desire to have fine, handcrafted pieces in the home is here to stay. These design must-haves have been popular for several years, and those who work with classic, quality-made furniture could not be happier! Besides the obvious benefits, the people at Laster’s Fine Art & Antiques love seeing new generations of homeowners desiring antique pieces that can be used as-is or repurposed to bring new life to a space.

“Most of our focus is on higher-end antique furniture such as chests, tables, sideboards and desks,” said Co-owner Ryan Laster. “The majority of our artwork is of listed artists, which means the artist’s work has sold at a major auction gallery and has some kind of following. We do handle some local artists like Della Roberts, Gene Hege, Frank Rowland and Barbara Mory, however.”

While the word “antique” can bring thoughts of your grandparents’ old furniture, at Laster’s, that is not the case! There are many types of fantastic pieces that qualify as antique but offer modern utility and style. “Chests of drawers and blanket chests are two of our favorite kinds of furniture pieces to have in our shop,” said Ryan. “A well-built chest of drawers can be hard to come by, so we are always happy when more are added to our inventory. They are extremely practical pieces of furniture that can go in almost every room of your house. Blanket chests are also great to use for storage and are typically found at the foot of a bed. But, in the Laster family, we like to use them as coffee tables. The bigger, the better!”

In addition to offering fabulous furniture finds and beautiful artwork, the professionals at Laster’s offer their services for appraisals, as well as estate sales. “We offer free verbal appraisals inside our store on items that people bring in for us to look at,” said Ryan. “We also offer estate tag sales. Let’s say you have a house full of furniture, art, glassware, china and other items that you need help getting rid of; we come in and conduct a two or three-day sale, on the premises, where everything in the house gets priced. We’re talking everything from refrigerators to bed sheets. After the estate sale, you are left with a broom-swept house.”

Before you step into a big box furniture store and spend good money on poorly made furniture, let Laster’s Fine Art & Antiques show you how well a piece with a little bit of history can work in your space. With constantly evolving inventory, it is a new experience each and every time, and you’re sure to find something you can’t live without!
