Pat’s Body Shop & Towing: Your Go-To Spot for Muscle Cars and Muscle Building

If you’re exhausted from your hour-long commute to and from work every day, your vehicle probably needs some TLC, too. It’s time to change your oil, but you absolutely dread sneaky salesmen trying to convince you that your air filter and wiper blades need to be changed as well. And you’ve noticed that your air conditioner isn’t as cold as it should be, with the toasty summer months approaching. Pat’s Body Shop & Towing, located on Country Club Road, is your answer, offering complete automotive and collision repair services, in addition to 24/7 towing and restorative services such as body repair, painting, and interior repair. Voted Best Body Shop in the Triad by Winston-Salem Journal Reader’s Choice Awards, Pat’s Body Shop provides top-notch customer service and will make sure your vehicle is in perfect condition.

Previously owned by her brother Pat, Sandra Scarlette purchased the body shop in 1997, putting the shop on the map as one of the few woman-owned body shops in the nation. In fact, Pat’s Body Shop is the 2nd largest woman-owned body shop in the United States. Since then, the shop has expanded from only performing collision work to performing complete interior work, mechanical work, restoration work on older cars, and even interior work on small airplanes. The shop is known across the country and internationally, having been featured in Bodyshop Business and FenderBender magazines.

Breaking into the automotive world as a woman has not been a cake walk for Sandra. Growing the shop into the dynamo it has become does not happen overnight, and is not a task for the faint of heart. With a ninth grade education and no trade school or technical education under her belt, Sandra explains, “I absolutely love a challenge. If someone tells me I can’t do something, I’m definitely going to do it.” The shop’s success can only be attributed to Sandra’s determination, discipline, and drive – no pun intended.

Auto body repair isn’t the only tuning up that Sandra knows a little bit about. Bodybuilding has been Sandra’s passion since the early 1990s. In a 1999 bodybuilding competition, Sandra placed first overall in her class after training for seven years and competing in two shows each year. At the age of 43, Sandra triumphed over numerous female competitors in their 20s. After suffering a horrible motorcycle accident in 2011, Sandra wasn’t sure if she would ever be able to walk again, much less continue her bodybuilding career. Astonishingly, Sandra made a full recovery and stepped on stage for the first time in 20 years, placing 4th in the 2019 Mid Atlantic Cup. Having turned 64 in March, Sandra’s body is still just as strong as her work ethic.

Hosted by Scarlette Productions, Sandra is teaming up with Jack King’s Gym to host the OCB Jack King Classic Natural Bodybuilding Show on Saturday, April 10th. The competition is being held at the Hanes Brand Theater, with the men’s show beginning at 9:00 a.m., and the women’s competition starting at 1:00 p.m. Kristy Cox, a Winston-Salem native, will be making a special appearance and will be guest posing for the first time at the show. Tickets and entry fees are available for purchase at JackKingsClass.com. Contestant entries will no longer be accepted after Saturday, April 3rd.
