Jeffrey Adams on Fourth is a contemporary dining experience, just waiting to be discovered for the first time, or enjoyed again and again. Certainly, once one does make the acquaintance of this local eatery, it’s likely you’ll add it to your list of favorites! That’s certainly my experience! Jeffrey Adams on Fourth is one of those places where old exposed bricks meet sophistication and urban-chic. As the name implies, this two-story restaurant sits on the corner of Fourth Street at Marshall Street. Directly across from The Stevens Center, Jeffrey Adams is a farm-to-table dining experience set in the heart of downtown.

Besides the food, which we’ll get to in a minute, Jeffrey Adams offers a full bar service, and boasts a menu of creative cocktails and martinis, in addition to beer and wine. We sampled two of their signature drink specials. First, the Jeffrey Adams Cocktail. When a restaurant puts its name on a drink, you can bet it’s going to be special. This drink is made from Makers Mark, Grand Marnier, orange bitters, figs, brown sugar, and orange juice. This is a drink designed for a sophisticated palate – for those who appreciate the blend of flavors and want to savor their cocktail!

The Head Trip was a menu item that piqued our interest, and is aptly named! Made with Grey Goose vodka, lavender simple syrup, St. Germaine, and prosecco, with just a hint of lemon, this drink – presented in a martini glass – is a memorable concentration of fresh flavors. Anyone who loves the combination of lemon with the flowery hint of lavender will find their new favorite!

For this issue of Rosey’s Review, the chef prepared a variety of signature dishes for us to sample. The appetizer course started with a Jeffrey Adams classic – Ahi Tuna. This lightly seared tuna is an elegant dish served with a soy reduction and wasabi. Incredibly tender, this is the perfect option for someone who isn’t so certain about seafood, especially since the taste and texture are more like a very tender meat. It doesn’t have the fishy flavor or scent that often accompanies seafood. Served with a seaweed salad with a garnish of pickled ginger, the Ahi Tuna is a favorite for many reasons!

Our second appetizer was the Shrimp Ceviche. For those who are unfamiliar, ceviche is a South American dish made from seafood and, as the name implies, the Jeffrey Adams version is made with shrimp. Similar in nature to a traditional salsa, this dish is made with onion, jalapeno, tomatoes, and cilantro and is served with a plate of homemade tortilla chips. Very spicy, with a great blend of flavors, it’s easy to see why this is such a popular dish!

When our server brought the Salmon Salad, which could be an entrée by itself, we were instantly in love with the bold colors of this gorgeous salad! This salad starts with a bed of lettuce and is topped with the bright red of fresh strawberries, the cheerful pop of mandarin orange, and the rich blues of fresh blueberries. Beyond the fruit, creamy goat cheese and candied cashews and onions round out this salad on which sits a generous piece of salmon, which has been perfectly grilled. Our salad came with two dressing options – the house made Sesame Ginger and Citrus Vinaigrette. I sampled both dressings before choosing the sesame ginger, but it was a hard choice! Jeffrey Adams makes all their own dressings, so you really can’t go wrong with any of them!

Jeffrey Adams is noted for their steaks, and I never complain when I have the opportunity to sample a Center-Cut Filet! No one needs to worry whether the chef will get their steak right when they visit Jeffrey Adams! They know what they are doing! This particular dish was cooked medium and served with Sautéed Brussels Sprouts and Mashed Sweet Potatoes. If you’re not sure if Brussels sprouts are your thing, pay a visit to Jeffrey Adams. They’ve taken this highly under-rated veggie and made it a dish you’ll rave about to your friends. Seriously, I haven’t met anyone who wasn’t converted to a Brussels sprouts enthusiast after trying Jeffrey Adams’ take on Brussels sprouts! And since I’ve never met a sweet potato I didn’t like, I was excited to try Jeffrey Adams’ version! They do not disappoint; sweet without being overpowering. Perfect!

Cheese lover? Seafood lover? Both? Then you’ll be in heaven when you sample the Seafood Risotto. Jeffrey Adams has perfectly cooked risotto with sundried tomatoes and smoked Gouda cheese and added shrimp, scallops, and lobster claws. Decadence in a dish is the name of the game when it comes to this one! It packs a powerful flavor punch that is sure to be a favorite!

The Summer Pasta was a favorite at our table! Angel hair pasta is served with a gorgeous blend of fresh veggies, including zucchini, onions, red bell peppers, spinach, and mushrooms – all tossed with a decadent pesto butter sauce. This is a vegetarian option that would convert any meat-lover, but no worries – there’s the option to add chicken or shrimp!

As is often the case at the end of our meal, we wondered where dessert was going to fit, but when slices of Tuxedo Cheesecake showed up, all of the sudden, our group simultaneously reached for forks! The Tuxedo cheesecake starts with a traditional graham cracker crust. Next, it’s topped with a layer of brownie, and then, a layer of vanilla cheesecake. Then, it’s topped with chocolate marzipan, and drizzled with chocolate ganache. This is a five-layer explosion of flavor that is the perfect ending to a fantastic meal.

It’s little wonder Jeffrey Adams on Fourth is such a favorite for those who have visited! The food. The service. The atmosphere. It’s all amazing and a true culinary experience for anyone who calls themselves a foodie. Moreover, with their commitment to using local, farm-fresh produce, including produce grown on their own farm (Andrews Farm in King), you can dine confident in the freshest quality ingredients. Pay them a visit, and be sure to tell them that Rosey sent you!
