Getting a Little off Your Plate Makes Life Better!

From the moment the last trick-or-treater leaves your front door, the mad rush is on for the holidays and it seems each year it gets a little more hurried. No matter how soon you start shopping, there’s always last minute things to do and you can get overwhelmed with it all. The less you have to worry about or the more you get off your plate, the better and more enjoyable your holidays will be. Simply Southern Cuisine may not be able to take your shopping list and find all the gifts you need, but they can give you the gift of less hassle by helping with your upcoming feasts, from a few side dishes to catering your entire event!

It’s Never Too Early to Plan Ahead

Lisa Miller, owner of Simply Southern Cuisine said, “Our Thanksgiving menu is available from the beginning of October, both in the store and online. This menu offers complete Thanksgiving packages (meals) and includes ham and/or turkey, side dishes, yeast rolls and dessert. This menu is for fresh or frozen items only. Customers can order in the store or over the phone, and the Christmas menu will be available late October. We can also help our customers determine how much food they will need to order depending on how many guests they will have. We also have options for those with special needs diets such as gluten-free and vegetarian.” Popular side dishes during the holidays include sweet potato casserole, squash casserole, green beans, green bean casserole and sausage and pecan stuffing.

“If you are planning on holiday catering, I highly recommend planning Thanksgiving or Christmas catering in October, as those dates book up quickly for us. Our typical procedure is for anyone requesting catering to fill out a catering questionnaire, which is available on our website. I review the questionnaire and email the customer a catering estimate, based on their menu selections and services requested. Most customers have a clear idea of the menu they want, but if they need help deciding what foods go well together, we can help them put together a menu,” commented Lisa.

Every Day Cooking Made Easy

It’s not just at the holidays that Simply Southern Cuisine can take some meal stress off your shoulders. “Just like our holiday offerings, everything is homemade and we offer three sizes – a 5” single serving size; a small 7” size, which serves 2-3; and a large 9” size which serves 4-6. For those looking to serve 12-15, customers can special order items in 9 x 11 pans. We have a standard retail ‘Food to Go’ menu, which includes entries and sides that are always available.

Chicken pie is our best seller and some of our other choices include baked spaghetti, beef and chicken pot pie, chicken taco casserole, Swiss chicken, broccoli casserole, sweet baked apples, squash casseroles, macaroni and cheese. Customers can also order desserts such as apple pie, chocolate eclair, banana pudding and turtle brownies, just to mention a few. We like making our customers’ lives easier so they have extra time to do what they want to do, not spending time in the kitchen,” Lisa stated.

As with everything in life, all good things come to an end, and so Simply Southern Cuisine can meet their customers’ holiday needs, there is a cutoff date for holiday orders. For Thanksgiving, the orders must be turned in by Saturday, November 18th for a Wednesday pick-up. This year Christmas falls on a Monday, so the orders must be turned in by Tuesday, December 19th for a Saturday pick-up. Gift certificates for Simply Southern Cuisine are also available and make great holiday gifts.
