The calendar says December, but I’m already in January! Don’t get excited – I haven’t figured out how to build a time machine or discovered any time continuum… such is the world of publishing. Our calendars never sync up to the normal ones. However, let me step back a few weeks and say, “Merry Christmas!” I truly hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season together! I hope you use the magic of this time of year to make memories that will last a lifetime and that you will cherish every moment!
You may be wondering why on earth I’m already in 2018! As I explained, it’s just the nature of the beast for what we do, but the other part is due to the overwhelming popularity of our seasonal magazine, Forsyth Community! The 2017 issue was in such demand, we ran out! We had to move our print deadline up a full month to keep up with the expectations of our readers, and I’m delighted with the issue we’ve produced. Check out the Facebook page (Forsyth Community) to learn where you can pick up the 2018 edition.
There’s also a first milestone we’re celebrating this month – the first full year of retirement for my husband, Tim! I’m not quite ready to join him, but boy am I enjoying his retirement as much as he is! I’ve gotten spoiled with homemade breakfast every morning, and he’s got dinner made almost every night.
Not to mention, we’ve started a new exercise regimen that gives us quality time together while doing something good for ourselves. We are walking and, if you can believe it, jogging regularly. We both feel better and the time is well spent. He’s been a great influence on me, and (I hope) I’ve been a great influence on him. It’s great to discover new things to do together in this season of life.
As we wrap up the year (seriously – where did 2017 go???), I want to give a special shout out and thank you to our advertising partners. We cannot be a free community resource without them, and we are grateful for their support of us as well as your support of them! Please make a small business owner happy this holiday season… shop small, and if you saw their ad in Forsyth Woman, let them know it!
So, until next year… Merry Christmas from our families to yours!
