Hello, Pumpkin. Whether you want to take that as a term of endearment or a reminder to pick up a pumpkin spice latte during your next round of errands, it’s October, y’all! Pumpkins surround us.
But for me, the month is much more than fall leaves and pumpkin-flavored-everything. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it’s the month I became a survivor. As you all know, my business partner, Robin Bralley, has been undergoing her own battle with breast cancer, and a few weeks ago, we surprised her and her family with a “Breast Vacation Ever!” surprise trip to wrap up her surgery, chemo, and radiation journey. While Robin hasn’t gotten her official “clean bill of health,” she’s feeling great, and I’m proud to have her join me, our dear friend Sandy, and my sister-in-law Donna, in our local “Breast Cancer Survivor Club!”
This month, we are co-hosting a fundraiser with Village Inn Event Center in support of Triad Pink Heals. As you may remember, Triad Pink Heals recently visited Robin to offer her encouragement, and it’s our privilege to show our support to them! We hope you’ll make plans to join us for an extra special GNO event on October 10th! The guys are invited, too. We’ll have food! Music! 50/50 raffle! And an auction! All proceeds will go to Triad Pink Heals and it’s an event NOT to be missed!
In addition to our support of Triad Pink Heals, we’re excited to invited Forsyth Woman columnist, Dara Kurtz, to participate in our event! The international blogger of CrazyPerfectLife.com, Dara is a breast cancer survivor herself and has just released her first book, “Crush Cancer.” Within 24 hours, her book jumped to #1 on Amazon’s book list for its category! Dara will be joining us and autographing her new book, and a portion of any books sold will also help support Triad Pink Heals! (Be sure to check out her book review in this month’s “A Novel Idea,” on page 94.)
Beyond that, we also have Forsyth Woman Engaged! coming soon! If your business is interested in advertising, hurry! The November issue arrives soon and space is limited. If you know someone who is getting engaged, please be sure to let them know about the newest issue – maybe even pick up a copy for them. (Just hold on giving it to them until AFTER the question is popped!)
As always, we are humbled by your amazing support and your enthusiasm for our magazines. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives. Please be sure to let our advertisers know you see their ads and read their stories! It matters! It always matters!
